Grading and Landscaping
GRADING
Ground settling after final grading (homeowner responsibility)
After final grading is finished, any settling or shifting of the ground is the homeowner’s responsibility. Because soil that was excavated during construction needs time to fully settle, we strongly suggest waiting at least 1 year before doing major landscaping. If you landscape too soon, the ground could sink or become uneven resulting in additional expenses to correct..
LANDSCAPING
Landscaping & environmental compliance (protect storm drains)
Alberta erosion control legislation requires homeowners and landscapers to keep soil, debris, and other harmful materials out of storm sewers and catch basins. Please follow these guidelines:
- Clean the roadway thoroughly after landscaping—especially at the end of the day and after rain.
- Do not leave extra soil, sod, gravel, or other materials on nearby/adjacent lots. Take it to an approved dumpsite/disposal location.
